Goldstones, originally known as Cyril Goldstones & Co, was founded in 1953. The firm has always practised from offices in Walter Road, Swansea.

We aim to offer a first-class, quality service in a friendly and approachable way. Located in the centre of Swansea, we’re within easy reach of the bus and rail station and the shopping centre.

Meet our dedicated team of experienced solicitors, committed to providing expert legal solutions tailored to your needs.

Mark Davies is head of the criminal department and a director at Goldstones Solicitors. He specialises in serious crime, in particular white collar crime, and is an experienced High Court advocate.

Educated at Cardiff University, Mark qualified as a solicitor in 1999, having trained with Messrs Edward Harris and Son. He joined Goldstones on qualifying and has been a director of the firm since 2004.

He is the head of the criminal department and specialises in all aspects of serious crime, in particular white collar crime.

Mark has dealt with many high-profile cases in his career including numerous murders, multi-million pound frauds, serious sex cases and high value drug conspiracies.

He is one of the few Solicitors in Wales that holds Grade A senior solicitor status in relation to cases deemed, by the Legal Aid Agency as Very High Cost Cases (VHCC).

Mark undertakes regulatory work and has acted for a number of companies and individuals who have faced investigation and prosecution by relevant bodies.

Mark has a reputation for defending the rights of his clients in a robust and forthright manner, regularly appearing in Magistrates' and Crown Courts. He is an experienced High Court advocate.

He is actively involved in supporting the Law Society seeking to influence policy within his areas of interest. He is a Non-Executive Director of The Law Society of England & Wales as well as Council Member for Mid and West Wales.

Mark is a keen runner and a Swansea City fan.

Lee Davies

Lee started at the firm as a Trainee Solicitor in 2000, qualifying as a Solicitor in 2002, and became a director in 2006.

Lee specialises in all aspects of criminal law, including road traffic law. He has dealt with many high-profile cases, including murder, gross-negligence manslaughter, large scale drug cases, serious fraud cases, violent offences and proceeds of crime act prosecutions.

Lee is a Higher Courts Advocate and appears regularly in the Crown Court in all types of cases.

Lee sits as a Legal Assessor and Legally Qualified Chair to multiple Regulatory organisations.

After training with Goldstones, Amy qualified as a solicitor in 2006 and is now a director with the practice. She specialises in all areas of family law, particularly divorce and matrimonial finance matters. She deals with all matters in respect of private law children and co habitation disputes. She also undertakes public law matters, where applications are issued by the local authority with respect to children. Amy is accredited on the Law Society Child Care Panel as a Children’s Representative.

Bridgitte joined Goldstones in 2014, having been a partner with the Gwyn George partnership in Ystradgynlais.

Bridgitte qualified as a solicitor in 1983 and is experienced in all aspects of property law, both residential and commercial.

Bridgitte is also experienced in the drafting of wills and applications for probate, the administration of estates, as well as the preparation of lasting powers of attorney.

Dan was a solicitor with us from 2009, working in the criminal department. He passed away on the 25th of May 2018.

Dan was an incredibly hardworking solicitor and continued to work throughout his illness.

He was well respected by the judiciary and clients alike for his meticulous preparation, sensitivity, and his ability in presenting his cases to the court. Dan had a wicked personality and a fabulous sense of humour, and he is greatly missed by us all.

He was an integral part of this firm, and he will always be one of our people.

Laura Carter

Laura trained as a solicitor with Goldstones and qualified in 2012.

She deals with all aspects of family law, with a particular interest in public law children matters such as care proceedings and adoption.

Laura also deals with all private law children matters, and also undertakes divorce and the associated financial matters.

She is a member of the Law Society Children Law Scheme.

Anthony, a duty solicitor, trained as a solicitor with Goldstones and qualified in 2015.

He undertakes matters in all areas of criminal law. Anthony advises clients in both the Magistrates’ Court and the police station.

Helen Lowe

Helen joined Goldstones in 2015, having qualified as a solicitor in 1995. She joined from Ivor Evans & Benjamin and specialises in property law.

Further, Helen has in-depth knowledge and experience in all aspects of residential conveyancing.

Sarah trained through ILEX and qualified as a chartered legal executive in 2012.

Sarah undertakes all family matters including private law children, cohabitation, care proceedings, divorce and financial matters. Sarah is accredited on the Law Society Child Care Panel as a Parent and Children’s Representative.

Sarah is also a duty solicitor and undertakes matters in all areas of criminal law. Sarah advises clients in both the Magistrates’ Court and the police station.

Julian qualified as a Solicitor in 2006 and commenced work with Goldstones in 2017. He practises in all areas of private client work.

Julian deals with all aspects of residential conveyancing including sale and purchase of residential properties and re-mortgages and commercial conveyancing.

He also deals with probate and estate administration, making of Wills and granting of Lasting Powers of Attorney.

Michelle commenced employment with Goldstones Solicitors in 2019. Michelle is a valued member of staff who manages our valleys offices.

Michelle is a Chartered Fellow of the Institute of Legal Executives, a Criminal Duty Solicitor and police station accredited representative. Michelle was one of the first to complete the Police Station Accreditation Scheme when it was introduced in 1992.

Michelle has extensive experience in dealing with all areas of law. However, Michelle specialises in Criminal Law. Michelle has conduct of a variety of cases, including fraud, murder and conspiracy cases. Michelle has a wealth of experience all areas of criminal law.

Michelle represents clients at the police station, at the Magistrates Court and prepares Crown Court cases for trial.

Leila Carballo-Williams

Leila joined Goldstones in 2020 and is a highly-valued member of our criminal department. A qualified high court advocate, she regularly represents clients at the crown court across a range of serious offences that include murder, violence and complex financial fraud.

Her attention to detail has given her specialist expertise in matters concerning Proceeds of Crime, where she has dealt with multi-million pound cases. Duty solicitor qualified, Leila provides representation to clients at the magistrates courts and the police stations.

Having trained and worked in London, she was called to the Bar in 2007, at Lincolns Inn, qualifying as a Solicitor in 2016. Leila is widely recognised in the Industry as a Proceeds of Crime specialist. Having worked in a major London firm in this area she had brought her skills back to South Wales.Recognised as a rising star at a Legal 500 Firm, Leila has travelled the world and is bilingual in both English and Spanish.

Sophie Jones is a criminal defence solicitor and a Crown Court advocate with Higher Rights of Audience. Sophie began her legal career as a trainee in 2020 and qualified as a solicitor in February 2023. Sophie qualified as a duty solicitor in August 2023.

Since qualifying, Sophie has developed a strong experience across a broad range of criminal matters. Sophie represents clients from the early stages of the investigation through to advocacy in the Magistrates and Crown Court. Sophie is committed to delivering clear, pragmatic advice alongside robust representation. Sophie gives clear, honest advice and works diligently to achieve the best possible outcomes for those she represents.

Lauren joined Goldstones Solicitors in December 2022 as a Trainee Solicitor in the Family Law team. Lauren qualified as a Solicitor in July 2025. Lauren has a particular interest in public law matters such as care proceedings and adoption.

Lauren graduated from Swansea University with a First-Class Honours Degree in Law and is currently studying the Legal Practice Course along with a Master’s in Legal Drafting at Swansea University.

Lauren also has a keen interest in criminal law and is a Fully Accredited Police Station Representative, representing individual clients at the Police Station.

Karen joined Goldstones Solicitors in 2023 as a Legal Assistant having previously worked at Swansea Civil Justice Centre. Karen currently works in the Family Department assisting with all matrimonial and children’s matters.

Louise Williams joined Goldstones Solicitors as a trainee solicitor in November 2024 after having completed an undergraduate and masters degree at Swansea University.

Louise undertakes criminal defence work. Louise is a police station representative and assists in the preparation of cases in the Magistrates and Crown Courts.”

Tom Fryer

Tom is a trainee solicitor for Goldstones’ criminal department and is primarily based in the Swansea office.

Tom joined Goldstones in November of 2024 following his completion of both his Undergraduate Law Degree and of his LLM / LPC at Swansea University. Tom commonly attends the police stations throughout South Wales to represent clients.
